Company: Analog Devices
Category: Internet of Things Product of the Year
The Internet of Things is enabled by the collection of large amounts of data – data that is then transported to systems that analyze and predict to optimize performance in areas from Digital Health to Smart Industries. With gigabits of throughput for this IoT electrical data interconnection, from the trusted leader in digital isolation, ADI’s best-in-class ADN4624 exceeds expectations. Analog Devices pioneered digital isolation technology. And for decades, ADI has continued to push the boundaries of what’s possible. The multi-gigabit iCoupler® ADN4624 digital isolator is another industry first, delivering an unparalleled 10Gb total bandwidth with the safety and reliability expected of iCoupler galvanic isolation technology.
Simplifying IoT connectivity, the iCoupler ADN4624 digital isolator family from Analog Devices sets itself apart in the market. At 2.5 Gbps per channel, this digital isolator has the capability to support improved resolution for video links, protect the gigabit bandwidth of analog front-ends, and extend robust communication between sensor processing nodes and across backplanes. The combined 10Gbps in a single small footprint device allows for direct isolation of high-speed serial LVDS (or AC-couple to CML for HDMI support) at full speed. When deserialization is no longer required, the data transmission can happen all in the electrical domain and thus maintain data integrity and reliability. Good data in translates to accurate deep learning and intelligent insights for IoT solutions. The ADN4624 family supports package options that offer design flexibility, and the high-speed data rate supports solutions that were previously only possible with short reach fiber optics. Precision timing (<16 ps skew max & <1.44 ps rms random jitter) at gigabit isolated speeds delivers full ADC performance and resolution when isolating precision ADC sampling clocks, data integrity for super-speed data links between processing nodes, and supports high fidelity video or imaging data. The ADN4624 also fully complies with the LVDS standard making IoT interconnectivity easy. This digital isolator supports safety in the presence of large transients, while providing high common mode immunity CMTI (permanent ground offsets, including fast changes) and transient immunity for external ports.
The Analog Devices’ ADN4624 gigabit isolator enables new market opportunities. With 10Gbps aggregate data bandwidth & galvanic isolation, IoT solutions can be designed from an all-electrical vantage point, making possible new approaches to solve data interconnect problems. In Smart Industry/Industry 4.0, motor control & machine vision systems in noisy environments can take advantage the high CMTI which enables gig-speed communication over external cables, low propagation delay, and simplified connectivity to native FPGA I/O. Within the Digital Health space, the ADN4624 supports 2MOPP (means of patient protection). Medical imaging equipment requirements are fulfilled with direct isolation of high-speed signals for HD video resolution, without costly FPGA deserialization to parallel video links, or the use of an optical transition. Additional releases within the ADN4624 family support placement in high density backplanes for ATE (automatic test equipment) applications, 1.8 V supplies for low power interconnect, 2 & 4 channel count options for IoT data connectivity flexibility, and a 7.5kV reinforced isolation (safety isolation at mains voltages) option for Industrial Ethernet from MAC to PHY on serial GigE links.
The iCoupler 10Gbps digital isolator ADN4624 is supported by Analog Devices’ deep domain and system-level expertise, offers superior performance, and transforms IoT data-interconnect design.
