Industry Personality
Molly Bakewell Chamberlin is the founder, president, and principal consultant of Embassy Global, LLC, an award-winning worldwide business-to-business strategic technical marketing, PR, business development and management consulting firm for the global electronics industry.
This year marks Molly’s fourth consecutive annual Electronics Industry Awards nomination for “Industry Personality of the Year.” She is the only U.S. business owner, and certainly the only woman-owned small business owner, who has ever been so recognized.
Her industry nomination this year, specifically, comes from the fact that, in 2020, Molly successfully overcame a number of rather significant personal and professional challenges, including several arising from the global pandemic, to not only continue to lead Embassy Global, but to still make major contributions to her Clients’ growth during such unprecedented times.
Embassy Global was founded by Molly in 2008, primarily as a means of helping small-to-medium sized industry manufacturers and distributors. The firm applies its own methods, strategies, and recognized industry subject matter expertise to help its Clients achieve more rapid and cost-effective worldwide sales growth. The methods of Embassy Global, also personally devised by Molly, have proven highly effective for the firm’s Clients. Since its founding, Embassy Global has served more than 250 industry manufacturers worldwide. The firm’s average Client engagement length is more than eight consecutive years.
Molly brings to both Embassy Global and her Clients the value-added benefits of her more than 20 years of globally recognized industry experience and contributions. Prior to founding her own firm, she held a progressive series of in-house sales and marketing leadership roles at several of the industry’s most prominent worldwide manufacturers. Her self-authored technical PR work has now appeared, both in print and online, more than 2000 times across various industry trade publications, including Sensors Online, which further recognized Molly in 2019 as one of the “Top 50 People in Sensors Technology.”
Today, Embassy Global remains among the industry’s first known 100% woman-led strategic technical marketing, PR, business development and management consulting firms. It also remains exclusively devoted to the support of manufacturing Clients in the Electronics, Electronic Components, Sensors and Instrumentation, Industrial Automation, Motion Control, and related technologies. And Molly continues to personally lead all of the firm’s strategy development and implementation efforts, to this day.
In addition to her roles within Embassy Global and the industry, Molly actively volunteers her time in support of a number of education-based programs, both in the U.S. and internationally. The focus of her work has always remained on the active encouragement of students to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), as well as foreign languages, along with continued advocacy for greater diversity and inclusion within those fields.
In 2020, Molly was also chosen, from among a select group of U.S. small business leaders, to serve as a delegate to both the Leadership and Technology Councils of the Washington, DC-based National Small Business Association (NSBA), one of the oldest grassroots small business advocacy organizations in the United States. In that role, she helps to raise greater visibility before U.S. lawmakers and members of the media as to the challenges facing small businesses, including and especially within the electronics industry. She has also remained an informal grassroots mentor and advocate for fellow small businesses throughout her career.
In 2021, Molly further agreed to become an active, ongoing Program Ambassador to the New York State Mentoring Program (NYSMP), the first statewide and school-based one-to-one mentoring program in the United States. A profile of Molly and her work have also just been published as a full chapter in the business leadership book, “7-Figure Minds: How to Grow and Lead a 7-Figure Business” by Alinka Rutkowska.
Molly remains a loyal friend, advocate, mentor, and trusted sounding board to so many in our great industry.
