The 60 GHz radar system iSYS-6030 determines the distance of stationary and slowly moving objects in up to 40 meters. The field of view is highly focused and precise with just 6° in azimuth and elevation. The system has a very low deviation rate of only +/- 0.1% over range. The object separation (same radar cross-section) takes place with a resolution of 12cm. The high-precision object data (distance and signal strength) is output in a target list. The product features are specified for level determination and collision avoidance. It shows its strengths particularly in the harsh industrial environment: Extreme temperatures, dust, aggressive materials or vibrations do not affect the functionality.
Innovations
The 60 GHz radar system impresses with its high-precision distance measurement that is it’s own kind: Thanks to advanced radar technology, the InnoSenT experts achieved a high resolution of 12 cm (enables object separation with the same radar cross-section at a distance of 12 cm) and a very low deviation rate (± 0.1%) over the distance even with the maximum range of 40 meters. Also unique is the dome-shaped lens, which helps to bundle the radar beam in order to increase the measurement accuracy and focus. Further highlights of the product are the functionality and adaptability, which facilitate the operation, integration and individual adjustment to the application-specific conditions. The customer can filter the detections according to distance and signal strength and thus determine which objects are relevant for him. He also defines, for example, limits (maximum, minimum) or if he only wants to detect the closest or most distant target. Furthermore, thanks to the four freely assignable and programmable outputs, it is possible to trigger specific signals for simple control tasks. There is a choice between two detection variants: the single target and multi-target mode. In this way, the system measures the distance to the object surface either at a single point or at different points within the detection area. InnoSenT also provides an evaluation kit with GUI for easy integration and configuration of the sensor.
The application possibilities of the iSYS-6030 are very diverse. With the help of the non-contact distance measurement it is possible to determine, for example, the fill level of bulk material or the liquid level in a container. Automatic distance control during positioning processes can also be implemented with the iSYS-6030. Another application is the alignment of agricultural machines to the height of the harvest (height measurement enabled by distance measurement and baseline and system looks from above). Alternatively, the distance measurement is used to prevent collisions between crane and large systems as well as semi-autonomous lift trucks or other means of transport. Contours can also be mapped with the iSYS-6030.
The product is an improved version of the predecessor iSYS-6003 from InnoSenT (Drop-in Replacement). Despite the same dimensions, the product offers users additional advantages. This includes improved measurement accuracy, a more focused beam, a wider supply voltage range, faster measurement and cycle rates and lower energy consumption.
